“Making a difference.”
That’s how Executive Director DeAnn sums up her daily job duties. As a Licensed Home Administrator and a Certified Dementia Practitioner, DeAnn has been improving the lives of Carnegie Village residents and their families for years. But her dedication to seniors began when she was in her teens.
Health Care Coordinator
Deanna Powell, RN
Even before assisted living residents move in to Carnegie Village Senior Living, they’ll quickly get to be friends with Deanna.
As health care coordinator, she’s part of the assessment team that determines personalized care plans.
The job takes a combination of listening skills, empathy, and a deep knowledge of geriatric care. Her involvement with long-term care began over 17 years ago when she first became a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She earned her registered nursing degree just four years later.
Treating residents like family is second nature to Deanna, and that’s one of the main reasons why she loves Carnegie Village. The different levels of care allow residents to stay on campus, and she believes that’s what makes staff and residents such a tight-knit community.
If you’ve visited Carnegie Village, you might already have met outgoing, friendly Kelly.
Her encyclopedic knowledge about the community is only matched by the warmth and care she shows to each individual resident.
Many times, she’s out and about meeting with case managers and clinical liaisons throughout Cass County, but when she’s at her home away from home at Carnegie Village, you’ll see her fine example of the All About You Signature Program in action as she ensures each resident has what they need to be comfortable, happy, and secure.
Organization and planning are the focus of Velda’s responsibilities at Carnegie Village Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. But what it really comes down to is communication and caring.
Instilling a commitment to stellar customer service is a priority in her daily stand up meetings with rehabilitation staff. It’s at that time they discuss how to provide the best personalized care to help each patient reach their health goals.
Velda’s career has revolved around long-term care from the time she graduated high school. First working as a nurses’ aide, a medical technician, and then a medical assistant, she earned her degree in registered nursing. Now with her Administrator’s License, she ensures the delivery of quality health care and directs the day-to-day operations in Carnegie Village’s state-of-the-art rehabilitation center.
Community Sales Representative
“Every day I have an opportunity to make a difference. Whether it’s a smile or an expression of care, I do make a difference.”
Besides representing Carnegie Village to health care professionals, social workers, and case managers, Community Sales Representative Rosemary Sylvan plans events to showcase how enriching – and fun – living at Carnegie Village can be.
That comes from her sincere love of people, music and live theater. But Rosemary’s passions don’t stop there. She was instrumental in founding Carnegie Village’s Parkinson Support Group for Cass County and the surrounding community.

“I grew up thinking I had all these grandparents. My heart has always been in it.”
When a senior is looking for their next step in life, Tisha provides service beyond what’s expected. She offers expert advice and guidance before, during, and after a resident moves in.
When meeting with prospective residents and their family members, her goal is to help them see all the possibilities of a great future at Carnegie Village. Then Tisha stays involved, solving any problems throughout the transition, and ensuring residents’ on-going needs are met.
