As Rehabilitation Coordinator, organization and planning are the focus of Velda’s responsibilities at Carnegie Village Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. But what it really comes down to is communication and caring. Instilling a commitment to stellar customer service is a priority in her daily stand up meetings with rehabilitation staff. It’s at that time they discuss how to provide the best personalized care to help each patient reach their health goals. Velda’s career has revolved around long-term care from the time she graduated high school. First working as a nurses’ aide, a medical technician, and then a medical assistant, she earned her degree in registered nursing. Now with her Administrator’s License, she serves as the Rehabilitation Coordinator to ensure the delivery of quality health care and directs the day-to-day operations in Carnegie Village’s state-of-the-art rehabilitation center. At Carnegie Village, “treat people how you want to be treated” is not just something that’s said. It’s a belief that underscores every staff/patient interaction. Although Velda’s main passion is her work, she spends her recreational time enjoying Truman Lake.
