Carnegie Village Senior Living Resident Spotlight: Rinny

Almost six years ago, Rinny Corrigan moved to Carnegie Village independent living community. She’s never looked back. She feels safe here and appreciates the variety of amenity choices and modern conveniences.

Large Apartment Home with Full Kitchen Was a Big Hit.

What attracted her to our Belton, Missouri community when she toured was the ample size of our spacious residences and the elegant, large common areas where residents can gather. She also was impressed with the full kitchens in the apartment homes, which give you the option to prepare your own meals. The icing on the cake for Rinny was when she saw that you can have a personal washer and dryer in your own apartment. Not all senior living communities in Cass County offer that convenient feature.

Just outside her door, Rinny can enjoy yoga classes, personal exercise coaching in the fitness center, art classes, a refreshing pool, live entertainment and outdoor patios. Belton Memorial Park is adjacent to our community, so walking around the lush green space is a cinch.

Parkinson’s Support Group Helped Her Husband.

When her husband was alive, Rinny says the Parkinson’s Foundation Heartland Chapter that meets at Carnegie Village was a big support for both of them. The group brings various aging and health care professionals into our community to share advice, talk through challenges and build a mutual support system.

Keeping Up Her Health and Relationships with Friends.

Rinny has always lived in south Kansas City or Grandview, Missouri near Belton. Before she retired when she was 72, she was an accountant for a bus company. She loves to walk and read. Easygoing, she enjoys meeting with friends for lunch and dinner and is loyal with keeping the communication going between them. Her retirement choices have made her especially happy.

When asked what she is most proud about, Rinny says it’s her good health, her children and her family. She says she was a very faithful and loyal wife. She has two living children, three grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
