Carnegie Village Senior Living Resident Spotlight: Janie
When Janie Killion visited her friends who live at Carnegie Village Senior Living Community two years ago, she immediately loved the feel of the independent living community. Our spacious common areas, chandeliered entryway and grand staircase made a distinct impression on her. Aside from our upscale ambiance, she also discovered the numerous programs, amenities and services our community offered. All combined, Carnegie Village was a natural choice for Janie when she decided to make a plan for her future.
Surrounded By Friendly People.
Janie’s apartment is on the third floor. Because she’s a people person, she loves being surrounded by neighbors. She likes to meet new residents and learn about their interesting backgrounds. The many varied residents even included her minister. Janie is especially fond of the professional team of caregivers who serve our residents and says they are very helpful to her.
janie Always Loved Visiting People in Skilled Nursing Communities.
Over the years, Janie’s residences have been multiple and in many cities. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri; then moved to Belton, Missouri and stayed for 17 years; then moved back to Raymore, Missouri for 17 years; and finally moved back to Belton.
She’s always loved visiting residents in nursing homes. Puzzles, reading, praying and listening to Christian music are just a few of her numerous hobbies. Carnegie Village always has a puzzle under construction in our comfortable common areas where neighbors can pop in, put together a few pieces and socialize.
It’s a Family Affair: Daughter and Son-in-Law Are Residents, Too.
It was apparent to Janie’s children that Carnegie Village was enhancing their mom’s life – so two of her family members moved right in after her! Her daughter and son-in-law now call our community home, too.
Independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory care are all available on our campus. Residents never have to move again thanks to our full continuum of care.
Janie also has a son who lives out of state and another daughter who lives in Belton. Sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren complete her happy family. Large families are nothing new to the resident though – she comes from a family of 11 children.
Medical Career and Honored as Employee of the Year.
Janie’s career background includes stints as a secretary or clerk at various medical facilities. She was honored as “employee of the year” at one job. She even once worked for Carnegie Village’s founder, Dr. Dominic Tutera, at Baptist Hospital in Kansas City.
Free of the responsibilities of working and household chores, retirement here is designed to help you find new meaning and purpose. Janie embraces that philosophy. Fun-loving, she gets a kick out of making people laugh. Her friends describe her as loyal, kind and loving. She says she loves her Lord and He keeps her going.
